Winter Update

Water Project Team

In October, we had the privilege of spending a few days with the water project team from California. They came down to visit to see the progress of the project. It was a very short, but very productive visit. I am happy to report that the water project got completed at the beginning of January! This project brought clean drinking water to the community of Rosa la Piedra and the surrounding areas. We are hopeful that we will be able to begin other clean water projects in different communities in the future!

End of 2024 Events

In November, we also hosted our last team of the year led by one of our ambassadors Jasmin. They spent the week doing elderly visits , mobile clinics, and helping at the Sisters of Charity. It was great having two return volunteers on the trip!

Our catechism and literacy programs wrapped up for the year at the end of December. Their last class of the year was held on a Thursday after clinic, so I was able to participate! There were over 40 children that day! Jessica, Oliva, and Maritza have been doing a great job with these programs!

Balancing Missionary Life

Sometimes with the busyness of my missionary work down here, I forget to do some exploring and fun activities. A few friends went with me to a farm that decorates for the different seasons. During the Fall they had a pumpkin patch set up and a corn maze, and at Christmas there were Christmas carols, a Christmas tree and even fake snow! We also did a small team bonding day and went to a waterfall!

2025 Teams Off to a Great Start!

We started off the year with a team from Holy Spirit Parish from Brighton Michigan. One of the members of the team was one of the founders of Building Bridges of Hope. It was great getting to hear some of her stories about her time here when it all began and talking about how much has changed over the years.

We have been busy preparing for two teams in February.  Our first team flew in this weekend from California. They have served with us for a few years now. They are our largest team of the year and provide dental and medical care to our communities.

The second week of February we will have a team from Saint Mary's parish in Pinckney, who have come to the Dominican Republic for many years, and come with many familiar faces!! I am looking forward to working with both teams over the next couple of weeks!

Stateside Visit

My sister just had her baby, so I will be heading stateside for a few weeks in late February to meet my newest nephew Theodore and visit my 1 year old nephew Callen! I will probably spend time with the rest of my family, but I am so excited to spend a great deal of time with my nephews!

Wiskenlove Update

Wiskenlove has completed 6 rounds of chemotherapy, and the doctors will be doing some analysis these upcoming weeks to see how treatment is going. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers.

Prayers

For safe travels for both teams flying in and out.

For all of the patients that we will be seeing over the next couple of weeks with our teams.

For Wiskenlove as she continues treatment.

For my health and travels over the next few weeks.
